A real case · in progress
The fish market on the corner
In Inwood, on the corner of Dyckman and Nagle, under the 1 train, there’s a fish market that also cooks: 101 Dyckman La Pescadería. It has been open for less than a year and it’s our client. This project called for a deep look before proposing anything, so we studied its market.
What it already had
- The food. 4.6 stars, better than almost all the similar businesses we compared.¹
- The corner. More than 4,500 people enter the station across the street every day.²
- The space. Inside, it’s one of the best-kept on Dyckman.
What we found
With all of that in its favor, opening and waiting for people to show up isn’t enough. There are things you can’t see from behind the counter.
The CDC estimates that only 1 in 4 adults in the United States eats fish twice a week. In this area, about 3 in 4 adults, close to 50,000 people, eat it less often than that.³ The person who already eats fish is the small part of the market.
And there was more: a storefront that inherited messages from before, and 68 reviews on Google, when the two competitors with the most have over a thousand.¹
Where it stands
We’ve already presented a proposal with five goals and a 60-day plan. The project is in progress.
Want to know what we proposed?
We’ll send you the study in a shortened version: who lives and shops in the area, how many people walk by and at what time, what we found and the five goals we proposed, without prices. The neighborhood data is useful to you even if you don’t sell fish.
