Start with your case

Almost every neighborhood business problem starts with one of these three. Pick the one that sounds most like yours and we’ll tell you what’s usually behind it.

It doesn’t matter if yours is a barbershop, a restaurant, a repair shop or a bodega: these three symptoms show up in all of them, almost always for the same reasons.

What’s usually behind it

Sometimes someone searches on their phone for exactly what you sell, but three businesses come up and none of them is you. Sometimes you do come up, but there isn’t enough information to decide, and not everyone wants to call to ask.

Sometimes people walk past your door every day and have never known what’s inside. And sometimes they do come in, but leave before buying, because nothing gave them a reason.

It can be one or several of these reasons, but they don’t get fixed the same way.

Before spending on advertising, you need to know

  • How many people near you want what you sell?
  • Of the people who search for it on their phone, how many see you?
  • How many people walk past your door in a day, and how many come in?
  • Of those who come in, how many buy?
  • What does your place have that doesn’t invite people in?
  • What is the similar business three blocks away doing that you’re not?

If you don’t have these numbers, everything you do is a bet, and you’re already betting a lot by opening every day.

Some of these questions can be answered by looking at your business. Others call for a market study. If your case calls for it, we tell you beforehand and it goes into your proposal.

We help you get to know your business, your market and your offers better.

What’s usually behind it

Almost always there’s a question the business can’t answer: who is your customer?

If there’s no name, phone number or record of what they bought and when, nobody knows who is cooling off or when they should have come back. The customer left without being upset, and nobody noticed.

It also happens that they would come back, but nothing reminded them. Or they came on a slow day, someone else served them, and they left with a different impression of the business.

Before spending on advertising, you need to know

  • Of the people who bought from you this month, how many had bought before?
  • How many weeks apart should one of your customers come back?
  • How many are past that date and haven’t come back?
  • If you wanted to message the people who came three months ago today, could you?

That last one is the one that hurts, because the answer is almost always no. And as long as it’s no, there’s no way to know how much money is walking out the door.

Some of these questions can be answered by looking at your business. Others call for a market study. If your case calls for it, we tell you beforehand and it goes into your proposal.

We help you find out who buys from you, when they come back and how to make them return.

What’s usually behind it

It’s rarely that the customer can’t afford it. Most of the time they don’t know you have it, or nobody offered it, or they saw it and didn’t understand why it costs more. Maybe your strategy for raising the sale isn’t working.

And there’s a part almost nobody looks at: what you sell the most may not be what earns you the most. When you don’t know which of your products brings the profit, it’s easy to work hard and earn little.

Before spending on advertising, you need to know

  • How much does an average customer spend today, and how much would they need to spend for your month to add up?
  • Which of your products or services earns you the most, and which one just gives you work?
  • What need of your customers aren’t you meeting today?
  • What do you offer the customer who already took out their wallet?

Some of these questions can be answered by looking at your business. Others call for a market study. If your case calls for it, we tell you beforehand and it goes into your proposal.

We help you find out what earns you the most, how to present it and how to offer it.
